Bangalore: Whether former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa can leave jail could be decided tomorrow, when the Karnataka High Court will hear her request for bail. Ms Jayalalithaa has been in a Bangalore prison since Saturday, after being found guilty of corruption.
The high court had earlier today deferred the former Tamil Nadu chief minister's bail plea to October 6.
To ensure a speedy hearing in the DA case, Jayalalithaa's lawyers have filed a memorandum before the Karnataka high court.
Eminent lawyer Ram Jethmalani has drafted the bail application citing Jayalalithaa's medical condition and that the fine imposed was not conforming to the PCA 1988 Act.
Citing her medical condition, Jayalalithaa's interlocutory petition for bail said that she has suffered a lot during the past 18 years and is now suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure.
It also claimed that there is no connection to her vis-a-vis subscriptions made to Jaya publications, one of the 32 companies that figures in the controversy.
